While this is not an exhaustive list of methods to examine someone's behavior, it does represent a good cross-section of the types available. The results could be very insightful. It might reveal that you prefer pasta with white sauce instead of red sauce (or vice versa). It might reveal that you prefer larger servings of pasta instead of smaller ones. Or it might reveal that you are the type of person who always orders extra cheese. It all depends on what you ask them to do, or in this case, list. Another common usage is asking students to make predictions about what they think will happen next in a story or movie. These are also known as "sequencing" questions or "storyboarding." The goal is to see if the student has an idea of how the plot will progress over time. This can be useful if it is unclear whether a student has an idea about how the plot works, especially when there are specific points during the story where certain events have happened (e.g. "Lisa put the new package on the kitchen table.").If you ask students to make predictions, you can really examine their behavior by which predictions they make. They might predict that Lisa would keep the package in her room instead of bringing it into the kitchen. Or they might predict that Lisa would avoid taking the package at all by not going outside to get it. Both of these are very different types of behaviors, and it all comes down to making a prediction about which parts of the plot will happen next. Another way that matching questions can be used is as a way of showing differences between behaviors.
